Kathleen Virginia “Ginny” Bosler

January 28, 1950 – November 8, 2023

Kathleen Virginia Waters Bosler (Ginny) was born on January 28, 1950. She tragically died on November 8, 2023 at 73 years of age.

Ginny was born to Kathleen Balfe Waters and James E. Waters. She lived in New Jersey and was raised in Hudson County. Ginny attended Seton Hall University and became a banker. She settled in Glen Rock in 1979 and raised her son, Matthew in a warm and loving community surrounded by many friends. Ginny lived in Glen Rock, until recently, when she decided to sell her beloved home and start a new chapter in her life.

Ginny spent much of her career with Hudson City Savings Bank, serving as bank branch manager in Glen Rock before she retired. After selling her Glen Rock home in 2021, she began her quest to find the perfect New Jersey home. She searched long and hard before kismet hit and she found where she wanted to live - Mahwah at Rio Vista , which once housed a Roman Catholic Seminary affiliated with Seton Hall. This past August, she finally closed on her dream condo in Mahwah after a two year search. She loved Rio Vista and often talked about how lucky she was to have found the ideal place for her. Her unit, with its large floor to ceiling like windows, overlooked the courtyard by the back of the Church. That is the first thing she saw when she work up in the morning. The community at Rio Vista was warm and inviting. She was starting to meet her neighbors and make new friends. Ginny was so excited to decorate her new place, but wanted to find furnishings that were just right for the unit. She was looking forward to many happy years there.

In the interim, she purchased two condos in Ft. Meyers, Florida in the same complex. In her later years, she especially detested the cold days in New Jersey, so she became a New Jersey snowbird. Not only did she buy a place for herself, she picked up a second unit for her friends to stay in when they visited her in Florida. Ginny, being such a social creature, made many new friends in the Ft. Meyers area. Her winters were filled with warm sunny days and full of blue skies. She had a magnificent view from her patio. When not entertaining, Ginny would explore Florida. She became a large part of the Parkland condo group, meeting and making friends with other northern snowbirds.

To know Ginny was to love her. Ginny was full of life and vigor. Her inquisitive nature and thirst for knowledge lead her on many interesting encounters. She was well read and kept up with the times. She preferred reading the newspaper to watching television. She was always looking for unique events whether it was avant guard play or watching movies that no one ever heard of.

Ginny loved to entertain. Her hosting skills were renowned. Whether it was her teas or her immaculately set dinner table or whipping together a brunch for new found friends, Ginny was quite the hostess.

Ginny loved to travel and to explore. She vacationed throughout the United States and visited England to connect with relatives there. It was part of her thirst to live a full life. Most of all, Ginny enjoyed just people watching. She would often remark about how interesting the world was. Ginny was open to all people and all cultures.

Ginny was a compassionate and caring individual. She was the first to offer to help if someone was in need and willing to assist in any way she could. It was the little things she did that truly demonstrated how caring she was. She could find something that reminded her of someone’s interest and it would show up on your doorstep or just send a funny email to say hello and I am thinking of you.

While Ginny may have come across as prim and proper to some, she was always fun and fun loving. She knew how to enjoy life and thrived on the experiences themselves, whether with her friends at the Daughters of the British Empire, the Red Hats, her Mahjong group, as an election volunteer, a volunteer at Valley Hospital, or an avid spectator. Ginny was one person who really knew how to live and love.

Ginny truly had the gift of gab. She could start a conversation with anyone about just about any subject. She knew how to engage in banter and could hold her own no matter the topic. She also had the best sense of humor and her laugh was completely infectious. However, one of Ginny’s greatest skills was her ability to listen. She would truly listen, not judge or offer unsolicited advice.

She is survived by her son, Matthew. Her father, James E. Waters died in 1985. Her mother, Kathleen Waters died in October 2009 after a lengthy illness. Ginny was devoted to her mother and served as her mother’s caregiver for many years. She is survived by many loving friends, who were her family over the years. Ginny truly will be missed by all who knew her.
