All Saints' Preschool

TO
ALL SAINTS' CHURCH PRE-SCHOOL

Founded in 1986, All Saints' Church Pre-School is a New Jersey State licensed pre-school and day care center conforming to all regulations governing child care centers. All Saints' Church Pre-School is sponsored by All Saints' Episcopal Church, and is conducted without regard for race, color or creed. Our goal is to enrich the Pre-School child's physical, emotional, social and intellectual growth, guided by a professional staff. Our school is dedicated to the happiness of children and we strive to build a warm relationship between the teachers and the children, which will strengthen the bond of understanding, affection, respect and tolerance for each other.

Administration: The Director, Mrs. Paulette Gilchrist and the Assistant Director, Mrs. Gail Thorne, have worked at All Saints' Church Pre-School since the fall of 1986.

Staff: Our staff is caring, well educated and professional. They are required to complete eight hours of training annually, as well as keep current in educational trends and CPR training. Our staff is re-certified every two years in infant and child CPR training and our Infant Caregiver is a registered nurse.

Hours of Operation: We are open from 7:00AM to 5:30PM Monday through Friday, 12 months a year, other than those days designated as school holidays.

Program: Our program provides continuous learning experiences and is flexible to meet the needs of the individual as well as the group. We allow freedom of movement, expression and creativity, and encourage and increase children's curiosity. We provide children with learning experiences amongst their peers so that they may learn self-respect and thus respect the rights of others. We offer:

Infant Care for babies 6 weeks to 18 months, which provides a stimulating environment for baby's daily development.

Toddler Program for children 18 months to 2 1/2 or 3, which provides a learning environment which includes muscle development, songs, stories, art and early readiness activities.

Pre-School Program for children whose third birthday is before October 1st of the school year, which includes reading and math readiness, stories and songs, large and small muscle development, science, social studies and art.

Kindergarten Readiness Program for 4 and 5 years olds which focuses on preparation for Kindergarten. The program provides reading and math readiness, stories and songs, large and small muscle development, science, social studies and art.

Morning Kindergarten and afternoon Kindergarten Enrichment Programs for students who are 5 years old before October 1st of the school year. Because of the small, individualized class size (maximum of 13 students), we have expanded upon the curriculum of the Glen Rock School System. We use the Language Experience approach in our curriculum which also includes computers, trips to the local and in-house libraries, physical education and music. The Enrichment program is an extension of the morning curriculum.

School Age Child Care (SACC)
Program is for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade. After a snack period, the children are encouraged to complete their homework. We also provide friends for play, as well as games, puzzles, arts and crafts. They have access to our Computer Lab to research assignments, or work on their web pages. These children may attend our program full day on those days when the Glen Rock schools are not in session. To view Miss Sharon's SACC class site, click here.

Before School Program
is available for those students attending Central School.

Specials Program is offered covering our Library, Computer Lab and Science Program. Our Specials Teacher integrates computers, library and science with the cirriculum in each class. The Computer Lab is designed to facilitate the use of age-appropriate software in conjunction with the printers and scanners on a weekly basis. Each child is encouraged to progress at his/her own rate. Our Library has been specially color-coded to allow the students an ease in selecting and returning books into proper categories. Each week a special "storytime" is presented to the classes relating to their weekly lessons. In an effort to encourage reading, our "Reading for Fun" program is offered on a monthly basis. Parents return monthly reading sheets listing all books that the parents read to their children or they read independently. At the end of each month, children are recognized with special certificates and the names of the top readers in each class are posted on a special bulletin board. In addition to the Library and Computers, there is a hands-on science program with age-appropriate projects and/or experiments that may involve weather, environment, biology, and cooking to name a few.

Summer Program
is available for all students. It encompasses many outdoor activities, as well as sand and water play, picnics, arts and crafts, field trips into Glen Rock to visit local points of interests and the public library.

Food:
The state nutrition and hygiene requirements are strictly observed and nutritious meals and snacks are provided as appropriate. For full time students we provide breakfast, morning and afternoon snacks, and a hot lunch at no extra cost. For those children under the age of 18 months, we consult parents to develop a mutual plan regarding appropriate diet and feeding schedules. Parents of infants supply formula bottles daily. As each baby begins a dietary program, baby food is provided.

Buildings and Grounds:
All Saints' Church Pre-School is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood. The facility is equipped with an automatic fire detection and suppression system in compliance with all fire safety codes. In addition, the building is completely air conditioned.

There is a large, fenced-in playground that boasts beautiful shade trees. Wood chips abound for safety and enhance aesthetics, as the children enjoy a variety of age-appropriate playground equipment.

Parent Involvement:
Parents are always encouraged to participate in all activities. They are invited to attend all holiday luncheons, as well as attend our Back to School Night in October, and our Parents' Night in the spring, which is set up as a workshop or seminar with guest lecturers. These workshops cover contemporary issues and/or concerns. We also offer parent conferences upon the request as well as invite parents to visit and share their special talents with our students.

Field Trips: We feel it is important for our students to venture outside our classroom walls and playground to broaden their learning experiences. A field trip is a first hand experience that has definite educational objectives.
