We are very happy to let everyone know that we are now
accessible. We have a working elevator and railings on the ramp so that
we finally can give access to our friends and parishioners who are in
wheelchairs or who have trouble with stairs. All of the work on the
church is complete, with the exception of some minor details that need
to be finished. We welcome you all to come and worship. On June 5th we
will have a small celebration, without the bishop who will come to
dedicate the new building in October. We hope you can join us this
Sunday and again on the 5th.

The
end is in sight! While we are still waiting for state approval of our
elevator, we have moved pews to make a space for wheelchairs and to
facilitate movement around the altar railing. The church is clean and
shiny. All the rest rooms have new soap and paper dispensers and are
ready for use, with the two new ones completely accessible. The choir
is settling into the new vesting room and the new closet is ready for
coats. We have noticed that two or three of our pew ends could use some
repair of the wood laminate on their facades. If any one has the skill
to do this with wood putty or stain, we would love your help! Please
let us know. Outside, the plaza is finished and railings will be coming
very soon. Many new plants are in, with others to come. The Garth has
been reseeded with grass.
March 17, 2011
Work
is moving along.. The light fixtures are in, including two new mini
hanging lights in the Nar- thex and lights in all the new rooms.
Switches are in and working. Plumbing fixtures are in and con- nected,
and the plumbing passed inspection. Tile floors are in. The glass is in
the nursery. Painting is finished. The elevator is installed, but still
needs adjusting. Millwork for the narthex and the choir room should be
in soon. Next step is to pass the electrical, elevator and fire alarm
inspections.
Outside, the ramp brick is in as is
most of the new brick. The work site been cleaned up in preparation for
the rest of the outside work. Concrete steps are poured. The end is
almost in sight! Soon we will need lots of volunteers for a massive
cleaning. Almost there, time to think about what we all can do to pitch
in and help.
March 6, 2011
We
now have doors hung, tile laid on the bathroom floors, and the elevator
installed. The glass is now in the nursery window. The elevator is a
big step forward. Painting has begun. Once the walls are painted, light
fixtures and switches will be put in. Slow but steady progress!
January 26, 2011
We're making progress! Our Episcopal red doors have been installed, as
have the
windows, and bricks are slowly being put
on, depending on the weather. The roof is finished The vestibule is
built. Inside, the
interior framing is up, the elevator shaft in
cut in and the delivery of the elevator is scheduled for next week.
Plumbing and electrical roughing out should be done this week.
Things are slowly progressing, with the inside expected to be finished
by March and the out- side in the Spring when we get a thaw. Again,
thank you for your patience!
January 6, 2011
Construction is moving along now, after a
long delay caused by the mason, who has
been replaced. The interior work should be done by mid February. Once
we have that done the contractor, David Visbeen, will be able to get a
temporary Certificate of
Occupancy so that we'll be able to use the finished new areas. Which
means we can move things back to where they belong and clean up the
parish hall. The elevator shaft has been cut out and the elevator is
being made. Floors are in, including the basement. The exhaust system
in the balcony attic has been removed.
The exterior part of the renovation, the ramp, steps and plaza, will
take longer because it is dependent on weather. If it remains above
freezing it may be finished sooner than the Spring; if there's a lot of
snow and cold temperatures it will take until then. Brick work is being
done by the ramp. Concrete was poured for the elevator lobby and stair
bulkheads. Roof panels were delivered and roofing has begun. The
aluminum and glass windows are being fabricated.
Thank you to everyone for your patience!
